Philadelphia black metal band Unholy Altar have signed with BLKIIBLK, opening a new chapter for the five-piece formed in 2021.
The band’s catalogue includes the 2024 album Veil of Death! Shroud of Night and 2025 EP A Sullen Dark Sky. Their sound has grown from second-wave black metal roots to place greater emphasis on atmosphere and a distinctive identity.
BLKIIBLK label head Mike Gitter praised the group’s underground work and its combination of metal roots with an unsettling atmosphere and aesthetic. The band say the partnership marks the beginning of their darkest offering yet; no new album title or release date has been announced.
Unholy Altar’s upcoming appearances include Philadelphia’s Kung Fu Necktie on 4 December 2026, Northwest Terror Fest in Seattle on 6–8 May 2027, and Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore on 30 May 2027. These are overseas appearances; no Australian dates were included in the announcement.
