Laura Frank has released her debut album, Life In The Front Seat, bringing together a decade of songwriting with a mix of country, rock, pop and heartfelt ballads.
Created with Nick Morrissey and produced by Jordan Power, the record explores love, loss, vulnerability, empowerment and finding your place in the world. Its singles include “How Do We”, “Get What We Deserve”, “God Knows, I Know”, “Broken Hearted Cowboy”, “What Do We Tell The Kids” and “We Won’t Stop Runnin’”.
Frank and Morrissey approached the album as a connected listening experience, with the songs designed to sit together as a complete body of work. For Frank, the aim is to create music that becomes part of listeners’ lives and helps them feel less alone.
Recorded at Brooklet Recording in New South Wales, the album features collaborators including Grant Gerathy of John Butler Trio and Mike Mills. Parts of the record were captured as full-band live takes, keeping the energy of musicians playing together in the room.
From opener “God Knows, I Know” to “It’s Enough”, “Would You Stay” and “Living My Life In The Front Seat”, the record balances upbeat moments with more reflective songs. The release follows support from triple j Unearthed and a number one AIR Charts placement for “God Knows, I Know”, according to the announcement.
