Vancouver alternative rock band Blonde Diamond have brought the radio edit of “I’m So Happy” to Australian audiences, alongside their new EP Love is a Shadow.
The song blends euphoric energy with a sense of unease and came together in a single 24-hour stretch. Originally released in 2024 as “I’m So F*cking Happy”, it reached number 17 on Canada’s alternative rock chart.
According to the band’s press release, Australia is now their biggest streaming market, ahead of Canada, with Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane leading the way.
Alexis Young and Malcolm Holt wrote and produced the track at their Vancouver home studio, with contributions from Bruce Ledingham and Louis Hearn. Matty Green, whose credits include Dua Lipa, Grouplove and Charli XCX, mixed it in Los Angeles.
Love is a Shadow was released on 18 September 2026. Young describes the EP as an exploration of moving forward through queer heartbreak, sobriety and a new chapter of adulthood. The band are also developing a new body of music for 2027.
