Newcastle emo and post-hardcore four-piece Jacques Levy’s Desire have released their new single “Safe To Say”, offering the first taste of their forthcoming debut EP, A Better Sense Of It All.

The six-track EP is due in March 2027. “Safe To Say” features guest vocals from Lily Schultz, sister of guitarist Jerad, and draws on the early 2010s Australian emo scene, including Oslow and Ceres. Its brooding guitars, soaring melodies and shifts in texture mark a new chapter for the band.

The group describe the single as the turning point in writing the EP, helping them settle on a sound after two years of experimentation. Rather than starting with lyrics, they focused on the music, exploring structure, tunings and dynamics.

The single and EP were recorded with Darcy Long at Sawtooth Studios in Newcastle and mastered by Alan Douches, whose credits include Saves The Day and The Promise Ring.

Jacques Levy’s Desire will celebrate the release at The Croatian Club in Newcastle on Saturday 24 October 2026, supported by Handsome Alice and Comedown. The band have previously supported Hockey Dad, Beddy Rays, Skeggs and Dead Mall.
